Upstate Carolina EMS is contracted by Mary Black Health System-Gaffney to provide around the clock medical coverage for all emergencies in Cherokee County, South Carolina. UCEMS Paramedics and EMT’s work one of three shifts on a 24/48 schedule. Part-time Paramedics and EMTs may work 12 or 24 hour shifts. UCEMS operates five 2017 Ford Frontline Type III Ambulances and utilize the Zoll X-series monitor/defibrillator for obtaining ECG tracings, waveform capnography, SpO2/CO and NiBP measurements. UCEMS personnel operate under the medical direction of M. Jane Wasson, MD.
